Introduction About GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION is used for the maintenance of early pregnancy in patients who faced documented history of repeated miscarriages due to luteal phase defect (a problem in menstrual cycle caused due to deficiency of progesterone during the midway of the menstrual cycle). It can also be used as an adjuvant to infertility techniques (such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or gamete intra-fallopian transfer (GIFT)) to facilitate successful implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterus. It is also used to manage threatened abortions and to manage abnormal uterine bleeding caused due to hormonal imbalance. It can be used as a diagnostic tool in progesterone withdrawal testing to diagnose the endocrinal causes of secondary amenorrhea (irregular or lack of menstrual periods) and to judge the chances of pregnancy among infertile women. It contains a medicine called progesterone which is a steroid hormone that functions similar to the endogenous female sex hormones. Before receiving GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, or migraine headaches before receiving GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION as a precaution. GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients with breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, blood clot problems or any vaginal infections. GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women and in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age). GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION can be used during the first three months of pregnancy. However, it should not be used in women who have ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the womb) and in women who had a history of idiopathic jaundice (severe itching of the skin) or other skin problems during their earlier pregnancies. The most common side effects of receiving GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION are pain, redness, itching, irritation or swelling at the injection site, vaginal bleeding, headache, bloating, nausea, hair loss, abnormal hair growth in the body, darkening of the facial skin or difficulty in sleeping. It supplements your body with sufficient levels of progesterone that is required for a successful implantation of fertilized egg in the uterus and for the maintenance of an early pregnancy. It sustains pregnancy among infertile women and in women who face repeated/threatened abortions by increasing the thickness of uterine wall. It also regulates hormonal balance in the body and corrects abnormal uterine bleeding. How to use GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse either into the muscles (as intramuscular injection) or under the skin (as subcutaneous injection). Allergy Contraindicated Do not receive GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Progesterone or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Lungs Consult your doctor GESTOFORD 200MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in patients who have or had any blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism).
